    1. Our system is PC-based so yes, The General Store will work whether the internet is up or down. However, if you are processing credit cards through one of the General Store’s EMV integrations, you will not be able to process credit cards when the internet is down. Essentially you would get a decline due to an inability to connect to the processor. The same would hold true if you are processing cards through an EMV capable, internet-based side terminal.

Some POS systems, both cloud-based and PC-based, may tout the ability to stack credit card transactions when the internet is down, and then attempt to get approvals on those transactions when the internet comes back up. But when looking at those systems, you should make sure that they are EMV capable, and realize that you run the risk one or more declined transactions after the goods have essentially left the store. So make sure to have a good understanding of your merchant service providers policy for such occurrences.
